Who we are
- NOLOOSEGUARD is a community safety app for Nigeria, operated by kelly Michael (the seller). We act as the data controller for the personal data described here, in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email, phone number and optional profile photo.
- Your state and LGA, and your alert preferences.
- Incident reports you submit, including location, description and any photos, video or audio.
- Your trusted contacts' names and phone numbers, which you add yourself.
- Your GPS location — used only on your device, unless you send an SOS or choose to pin a report to it.
Why we use it
- To show safety risk near you, send alerts and run the SOS feature (performance of the service and your consent).
- To review reports before they become public, and prevent abuse (legitimate interest).
- Report descriptions are analysed by an AI model to suggest safety guidance. This is advisory and never confirms a report.
What others can see
- Only reports that staff have reviewed are shown publicly.
- Your identity is never shown with a public report. Reporter accounts are hidden from everyone except our review staff.
- If you choose “Hide my exact location”, only an approximate location (about 1 km) is stored.
- Your photos, videos and audio are visible only to you and review staff.
Your rights
- Access and portability: download all your data from Profile → Download my data.
- Correction: edit your details in Profile at any time.
- Erasure: delete your account from Profile. Your personal data is removed and any reports you made are unlinked from you.
- Withdraw consent: turn off location access and notifications at any time.
- You may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) at ndpc.gov.ng.
Who we share it with
- Service providers that host and run the app (cloud hosting and database).
- Paddle.com — our Merchant of Record — when you buy an advertising subscription. Paddle processes the payment, handles billing, tax and invoicing, and receives the data needed to complete your purchase. Payment card details are collected by Paddle, not by us.
- Professional advisers and authorities, only where required by law.
Security and retention
- Data is encrypted in transit, and access rules limit each record to the people who need it.
- We keep your data while your account is active and delete or anonymise it when it is no longer needed.
Cookies
- We use only essential storage needed to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
